TMP System SW HW V3.4, 3.6 & 3.8

GEOPHYSICS

Thermometry

Description:

TMP was designed to operate with a type K thermocouple in different environments. The operating principle of the sensor is based on the Seebek effect, which predicts that when a difference of temperature is applied between two (hot and cold) junctions of two materials, which are generally metal, a voltage is produced. The TMP digitizes changes in measured voltage at the hot junction of the type K thermocouple and compensates for cold junction through an integrated electronic sensor, converting them into data and send them to the processing base for its further interpretation.

This method records temperature changes in the atmosphere, hot springs or fumaroles and is of major importance in monitoring and surveillance of volcanoes.
